Booking advice

A hot tub is the single most requested amenity in the Hocking Hills. Here is how to tell a good one from a disappointing one before you pay.

Ask a hundred Hocking Hills guests what they want and most will say the same thing: a hot tub, outside, with trees around it. Almost every cabin advertises one — but they are not all the same, and the listing photo rarely tells you what you need to know.

Five things worth checking

  • Privacy. Is the tub screened by trees or a deck rail, or does it face a road or a neighbouring cabin? Ask the owner directly — they will tell you honestly, because a disappointed guest is their problem too.
  • Year-round use. Some tubs are drained for winter. If you are booking December to February, confirm it will be filled and heated.
  • Cleaning between stays. Owners who drain, scrub and refill between guests will say so plainly. It is a fair question and a good signal.
  • Capacity vs the cabin. A four-person tub in a cabin that sleeps ten means taking turns.
  • Cover and steps. A heavy cover in poor condition is the difference between a warm tub at 9pm and a lukewarm one.

Why booking direct matters here

On this marketplace you are talking to the person who owns the cabin, not a call centre. Ask about the tub before you book and you will get a real answer — so you get a real answer.
